DIL SE EQUAL
#EqualityWithEveryBeat
On the Road to Equality, With Diversity

A Campaign for Gender Equality
As Shramajivi Mahila Samity (SMS) celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2025, we reaffirm our commitment to driving progress toward a more gender-equal world. SMS continues to advance gender justice, and this anniversary is a powerful reminder of what collective action can achieve. By 2030, youth-led collective action can play a transformative role in achieving gender equality. “Dil se Equal” is a campaign that believes change must begin from the heart—through values, attitudes, and actions that challenge inequality and discrimination in everyday life.
Campaign Vision
On the Road to Equality: With Diversity
A world where all people—regardless of sex, gender, sexuality, or identity—enjoy equal rights, opportunities, and dignity.
Clear Objectives:
1.
Inspire youth to believe in their power to make a difference.
2.
Break gender stereotypes and redefine masculinity in positive, inclusive ways.
3.
Prevent discrimination and violence by fostering respect, empathy, and shared responsibility.
4.
Promote systemic and attitudinal change in schools, families, workplaces, communities, and media.
5.
Combat hate speech, particularly gender-discriminatory speech, both online and offline.
Why this Campaign?
Gender-discriminatory hate speech—whether called cyber-sexism, sexualized hate speech, or cyber-harassment—is widespread. It disproportionately targets women and diverse genders, causing deep harm. If left unchallenged, it normalizes inequality and reinforces patriarchal structures. This campaign responds by:
- Building safe spaces for dialogue where youth can challenge stereotypes.
- Promoting positive masculinity that values care, equality, and mutual respect over dominance or aggression.
- Encouraging collective action to stand up against hate speech and gender-based violence.
Core Themes
The campaign challenges patriarchal masculinity and negative gender norms through five key areas:
Language
Words shape culture. Promote inclusive, respectful language that does not demean or stereotype.
Patriarchal Mentality
Challenge outdated mindsets that normalize inequality.
Negative Masculinity
Break away from dominance, aggression, and sexism; promote care, fairness, and non-violence.
Division of Labour
Normalize equal sharing of household and care responsibilities.
Freedom of Choice
Empower individuals to make their own life choices, free of gender-based restrictions.
